RED FISH

PINK SALMON

 

This kind of fish belongs to the type of passage, that means that it born in river, and then enters the ocean and stays there about 2 years. For reproduction period pink salmon always returns to the same river it was born. During life in the ocean, pink salmon has a silver color with a blue tint and a long shape of body. By returning to the river, the appearance of the fish changes. It gets a characteristic hump and the main color becomes darker. The average fish weight is 2,5 kg. and length is about 40 cm.

CHUM SALMON

 

Large predatory fish living in the waters of the Far East, the Pacific Ocean and in the Arctic Ocean basin. Chum salmon has a quite large size and can reach a length of 100 cm, with maximum weight of 14 kg. Like other salmonids, chum salmon has a high nutritional value.

RED SALMON

A common representative of the salmonids. The fish has the brightest color in a family and has a pink color meat. Compared to chum or sockeye salmon its quite small. The length of the fish can reach 80 cm, with a weight of 2-3 kg. Red salmon inhabits on the western and eastern coasts of Kamchatka, and the biggest population locates in the Ozernaya and Kamchatka rivers.

TROUT

Very tasty and beautiful fish. It’s different in appearance from the other salmonids. It has multi-color body with small dark spots, and its belly has a golden tint. Therefore, the trout sometimes called the “golden fish”. There are freshwater and sea trout. Depending on the habitat, it has different sizes. Sea trout is the largest, - 90 cm in length and up to 12 kg in weight.

ATLANTIC SALMON

One of the biggest representatives of salmonids, reaches a length of 1,2 meters and weighs 43 kg. It inhabits in the waters of the North Atlantic Ocean and Arctic Ocean. Fish spawn in the rivers of the White and Baltic seas, and in the rivers of Murmansk coast.

COHO

This kind of salmonids has a beautiful silver color with a tint, a very large head, a wide forehead and a small tail. The length of Coho salmon can reach 1 meter, with a weight of more than 15 kg. The meat is very soft, rich in vitamins and minerals and can be considered as one of the best among other species of the red fish. There is a limited quantity of the Coho salmon, that is why it's considered quite valuable.

CHINOOK

This Pacific salmon is the largest, – reaches 40 kg of weight and 1.8 meters in length. It has more than 15 gill rays, what makes it different from other salmonids. The meat has a bright red color and rich taste. It's quite fat (11-13.5%), but not more than Atlantic salmon. Chinook salmon's meat has the best quality of meat compare to other salmonids.
